Victorian Vehicle Fleet
Recent changes to the Victorian car and motorcycle fleet, by key vehicles types, brands and fuels is summarised in the following section. Two trend measures are provided:
- Stock: contribution to all registered vehicles at end of quarter;
- Flow: contribution to net quarterly change in registered vehicles, from beginning to end of quarter.
The data provides an insight into the randical changes occuring in the types of vehicles being purchased across the state, with significant increases in Chinese and Electric Vehicles offset by accelerating scrapping of traditional Holden and Ford cars.
Regional Vehicle Fleet Composition
Changes in the composition of the vehicles fleet by region differs from the inner city, suburban and regional communities.
Electric Vehicle Fleet
Electric vehicles are the most significant source of growth in motor vehicle sales. The mix of marks sold in Victoria is changing rapidly. Tesla's are still a growing in absolute numbers, but their market share has declined by more than 10%.
