Subdivision Performance
Productivity: Industry gross value per employee added by industry subdivision, by size of employment.
The highest labour productivity is among the most capital intensive industries.
Profitability: Operating profits before tax as a proportion of total income.
The mining and extraction industries remain the most profitability and consistently so over the last 10 years. Property operations and finance are also sectors which are frequently top ranked in profitability.
Labour income Average annual wages & salaries per employee.
Wage rates across industries are consistent with the labour productivity and the high capital mining sectors having the highest annual average wages. Wages are lowest in agriculture where significant short term seasonal work and in industries with significant part time and casual labour.
