Regional Dwelling Construction

The following dashboard provides an overview of dwelling building activity (apartments and houses) from the ABS building activity data. The dataset compares cumulative building between mid 2021 to mid 2024 for each ABS Census Statistical Area Level 2.

Notes:

• comparisons are by population deciles;
• values are are current price estimates;
• census income is the average personal income of all individuals, including people not in the labour force such as children and dependents;
• construction work includes all completed residential dwellings across the private and public sector (public and community housing), it excludes commencements; and
• building activity includes alterations and additions to existing buildings, non-structural renovation and refurbishment and installation of integral building fixtures.
